Pole position and two record laps for Jorge Martin at Misano. The Prima Pramac Racing spaniard gave the competition no chance and secured pole position for the San Marino GP. Marco Bezzecchi and Francesco Bagnaia are also on the front row of the grid.
In Q2 the tyres choice was unanimous for everyone, with hard at the front and soft at the rear, but it was Brad Binder and Jorge Martin who did best on the first lap. Dani Pedrosa, wildcard, was third and Maverick Viñales fourth.
Two laps later, the highlight was Martin who set a Misano lap record with a 1:30.832s, leaving Marco Bezzecchi 0.195s behind. Francesco Bagnaia was third at 0.347s, ahead of Binder and Aleix Espargaro.
With the session almost half over, the riders headed to the team’s garage.
On their return, and after a slower first lap in preparation for the final attacks, it was to be expected that there would be further changes in the best times.
In fact, Dani Pedrosa moved up to second place in the session, but it was Martin who again improved his best lap (and record), now 1:30.390s. Pedrosa was at 0.603!
In the next minute Bagnaia beat Pedrosa and set the second best time but was then overtaken by Bezzecchi, who was 0.406s behind the Pramac/Ducati spaniard.
The session ended shortly afterwards with Martin securing pole position in style!
