Tim Gajser won this Sunday’s MXGP of Great Britain, that marked the end of the MXGP Motocross World Championship season. The final round took place at the Matterley Basin circuit.

In the first race, Glenn Coldenhoff (Monster Energy Yamaha) led for a significant portion of the race but couldn’t hold onto the position in the final laps. Gajser (Team HRC) overtook him with three laps to go, and then he lost the second-place position to his teammate Jeremy Seewer on the final lap. Seewer finished 1.627 seconds behind Gajser. Jorge Prado (Red Bull GasGas), the reigning champion, finished fourth in this race despite briefly being in second place.

Coldenhoff again started as the leader in the second race but was overtaken by Gajser in the third lap. The Slovenian set the pace from there, eventually winning by 5.868 seconds ahead of Romain Febvre (Kawasaki). The Frenchman made a strong recovery to finish second in the ninth of the 14 laps. During the final lap, Seewer also lost a position to Rúben Fernández (Team HRC). Coldenhoff finished fifth. Prado suffered a fall and could only recover to 18th place.

With the double victory, Gajser won the MXGP of Great Britain, scoring a perfect 50 points. Seewer was second with 40 points, followed by Febvre, Coldenhoff, and Fernández in the top five. After his setbacks in the second race, Prado finished tenth overall.

It was a day of decisions in the different MXGP categories, and while in the main category the champion was crowned, the truth is that Andrea Adamo, in MX2, didn’t want to wait either and secured the world title himself despite Jago Geerts got to win the second race. Romain Febvre won the second MXGP race in Italy today.

After seeing the title slip from his grasp in an unusual way, when he crashed out before the end of the first heat, Febvre (Kawasaki) wanted to show that this didn’t affect him and won the second race of the category in Maggiora.

The frenchman, ranked second in the world, beat the Team HRC duo: Tim Gajser was second and finished the race 1.628s behind #3, while Ruben Fernandez was third, 6.011s behind. Jeremy Seewer was fourth and the best Yamaha man on track, with Alberto Forato the best on a KTM.

Jorge Prado (GASGAS), already assured of the title, was sixth.

When it came to MX2, and with the title decisions likely to be finalised in Italy, that scenario was confirmed, with Andrea Adamo (KTM) confirming the world title with one round to go.

Geerts (Yamaha) won the heat and beat the winner of the first, Simon Laengenfelder (GASGAS), with the new world champion taking third place.

It is finally decided: Jorge Prado has just became moments ago the new MXGP world champion. At Maggiora, the rider had a comfortable lead in the standings for his most directly opponents but didn’t gave away and secured the title right away with one race still to take place at the MXGP of Italy, and with one round before the end of the championship.

To do so the GASGAS rider didn’t do it for less: he won at Maggiora in the first race with 1.309s of advantage over Jeremy Seewer (Yamaha), while Alberto Forato (SM Action/KTM) finished third.

The title was somehow early on «awarded» after Romain Febvre (Kawasaki) after six laps got down, not returning to the race, handing over in a plate the title to his fellow opponent, has in order to keep dreaming the french didn’t count only on himself.

In this race the top three stood out greatly, with Calvin Vlaanderen (Yamaha) to finish in the fourth position after crossing this finish line 26.251s after the winner. Ruben Fernandez was the best rider on track on a Honda, fifth.

Simon Laengenfelder was the big winner of the first MX2 race in Maggiora, in a round in which Andrea Adamo gained more points on his main rivals in the fight for the title.

The german from GASGAS was fastest on italian soil, beating Jago Geerts (Yamaha) by 6.611s, while Adamo (KTM) was third, crossing the line 12.5s after the #516.

Liam Everts (KTM) was the first to miss out on the podium, and he who is still dreaming of the class title saw his teammate get further away in the standings after scoring two more points than him. Lucas Coenen (Husqvarna) was fifth and closed the top five.

Note the fight for third place in the championship, where Laengenfelder, after picking up 25 points in the first race, was just one point behind Geerts. The belgian has 681 points, just one more than the german.

Tim Gajser recently celebrated a victory in the MXGP at Afyonkarahisar, which was part of the Turkish Grand Prix. Following this triumph, he expressed his renewed enthusiasm and ambition to replicate such success in future races, especially in Italy.

Gajser’s win in Turkey has rekindled his passion for standing atop the podium, and he is eager to experience that feeling once more. As the anticipation builds for the upcoming round in Maggiora, Italy, the reigning world champion, who seems ready to pass on the title, shared his thoughts:

“Obviously, after Turkey, I’m looking forward to racing in Maggiora. I really like the track, and the fans are always so loud. You can hear them throughout the circuit when you’re racing. After winning a Grand Prix, that’s my goal for every race. Even though I know it won’t be easy to repeat such a feat, I’ve had good results at this venue in the past. I’m excited to try and do it again this time.”

Gajser’s comments reflect his determination and drive. His recent victory has undoubtedly boosted his confidence, and he is keen to maintain this momentum in the upcoming races. The Maggiora track, with its enthusiastic and vocal fans, promises to be an exciting venue for the next chapter in Gajser’s journey.

The world of MXGP racing is highly competitive, with every race presenting new challenges and opportunities. For racers like Gajser, each victory is not just a testament to their skill and dedication but also a source of motivation to push harder in subsequent races. The feeling of crossing the finish line first and standing atop the podium is unparalleled, and it’s what drives these athletes to give their best at every event.

Maggiora, with its unique track and passionate fans, offers a perfect backdrop for such intense competition. The fans’ energy and enthusiasm play a crucial role in motivating the racers, and Gajser’s acknowledgment of their support highlights the symbiotic relationship between the athletes and their fans.

As the MXGP season progresses, all eyes will be on racers like Gajser to see if they can maintain their winning streaks or if new challengers will emerge to claim the top spot. With the title race heating up, every point counts, and every race becomes a battle not just against other competitors but also against oneself.

Gajser’s recent victory has set the stage for an exciting season ahead. Whether he can replicate his success in Italy remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: he will give it his all, driven by the desire to experience the thrill of victory once more. As fans eagerly await the next race, they can be sure that the action on the track will be nothing short of spectacular.

The MXGP and MX2 world championships will be at Maggiora this weekend for the Italian GP, a round in which Jorge Prado (MXGP) and Andrea Adamo (MX2) could well secure the titles in their respective classes with one round to go.

With 100 points still to play for (50 in each round), Jorge Prado (GASGAS) has a 67-point lead over Romain Febvre (Kawasaki), the only opponent still mathematically in with a chance of the title, but such a scenario seems practically an impossible task. Febvre will have the pressure on him and knows that he has to achieve almost the full points and hope that the #61 is at or near zero, something that has never happened this season.

The last round in Turkey was even the weakest in terms of points for Prado, where he added 20 points.

In MX2, the accounts are very similar, with Adamo (KTM) leading the standings with 48 points more than his team-mate, Liam Everts. Jago Geerts (Yamaha) still has a mathematical chance of winning the title, but he’s 82 points behind the current championship leader.

Geerts has to wait almost two rounds – four races – to zero in on Adamo and Everts, while he himself has to score the maximum points.

Everts, on the other hand, is “only” one round behind Adamo, but it’s not just up to him to win the title.

It is therefore virtually certain that Prado and Adamo will win the world titles in their respective categories and only a miracle can give their opponents hope of reaching the top of the standings or, on the other hand, only a hecatomb will prevent Prado and Adamo from becoming champions.

Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP and Mitch Evans have decided mutually for the rider to skip the next round of the FIM MXGP Motocross World Championship as the Australian is suffering from a wrist injury.

The MXGP of Turkey last week was a tough one for Mitch; he was riding in pain in both motos as irritation to an old wrist injury caused more-and-more discomfort until the point that he could no longer display his usual speed but he persevered to score championship points with a twelfth and a sixteenth position. Back in Belgium the factory rider visited a specialist and underwent dedicated treatment to recover as soon as possible, but he is still unable to train on the bike and riding would only delay the healing process. With the GP of Italy scheduled for next weekend both team and rider prefer to give the injury time to heal fully; a decision will be taken later concerning the final MXGP of the season in Great Britain.

Antti Pyrhonen: “We are working closely with Mitch to find the best way for him to recover to 100%. For sure it’s a tough decision to withdraw Mitch from Italy but we’re convinced that it is the right one; then we will see when is the best time to be back racing. We thank Mitch for his professional attitude and for taking the right choice in terms of his fitness and ability to compete at the highest level.”

Tim Gajser has finally returned to the winning ways this weekend at Afyonkarahisar, counting for the MXGP of Turkiye after securing a 2-1, which meant a total of 47 points

‘I felt confident coming into this weekend and once I rode the track, I knew it was going to be a good weekend. Even though the storm meant we didn’t race yesterday [saturday], I had the first gate-pick and that really helped me get two good starts on my Honda CRF450R, giving me the opportunity to lead the races early on’, the slovenian began to say in a statement, he who got to win his first motto of the season so far.

Gajser then spoke of his race one and then about his second:

The first race I had arm-pump so I had to settle for second, but race two I was just feeling so good on the bike. I had a really good lead, and even though I made a mistake, I was able to stay in front and then pull out a gap all over again. A big thank you to all the team, my girlfriend Spela and all the fans who have supported me this year when things haven’t gone my way. I’m really happy to show everyone that I am back and now I’m really excited for the final two rounds.
