Toprak Razgatlioglu, a name synonymous with speed at Portimao, is gearing up for another electrifying performance this year, with his eyes set on clinching his second title. Reflecting on his past experiences, Razgatlioglu says, “Portimao has always been special for me. Last year’s race is etched in my memory, particularly the intense duel with Alvaro during the Superpole Race. I’m eagerly looking forward to another face-off with him on this track, which ranks among my favorites.”
While Razgatlioglu acknowledges his strengths at Portimao, he’s also quick to recognize the prowess of his competitors. “I’ve always had a good run here, and so has Jonny. But one can’t overlook Alvaro’s consistent performance, regardless of the track. Our races often see us battling it out neck and neck,” he observes.
The stakes are high for Razgatlioglu, and he’s not shying away from taking risks. “Currently, I might be in the second spot, but the goal is clear – victory. Even if I clinch the top spot in all races and Alvaro finishes second, he could still emerge as the World Champion. This realization pushes me to always strive for more,” he states emphatically.
For Razgatlioglu, it’s not just about the race; it’s about the championship. “My focus is unwavering – win every race. There’s always the possibility of Alvaro slipping up, which could turn the championship tide in my favor. But for now, it’s all about giving my best in each race,” he shares.
Acknowledging the formidable competition, he adds, “Achieving a hat-trick won’t be a walk in the park, especially with heavyweights like Alvaro and Jonny in the fray. Not to mention, my teammate is upping his game too.”
With a twinkle in his eye, Razgatlioglu concludes, “This weekend, I’m planning something special – a jump, particularly towards the end of FP1. Let’s see how far I can soar!”
