Surprise move in the MotoGP riders market ahead. Marc Márquez is reportedly leaving Repsol Honda, and he won’t be alone – he’s taking Repsol and Red Bull, his two main sponsors, with him.
The destination? Gresini Racing. If confirmed, the six-time champion would be riding a Ducati but would be part of a satellite team for the first time. And, as a teammate, he would have his brother Álex Márquez.
The rumor comes from a source as credible as Óscar Haro. On social media, the former LCR Honda member stated: ‘Big bomb that has just been told to me: Marc Márquez is going to Gresini Racing, with his brother Álex Márquez, surely with Red Bull, Repsol, and Estrella Galicia’.
Struggling to be competitive, this would be a significant blow to Honda’s project, losing two important sponsors and partners, in addition to their decade-long reference rider. However, for now, it’s all speculation and Márquez himself has a valid contract until the end of 2024 season.
