Zonta van den Goorbergh led the first qualifying for the Moto2 Indian GP, securing a spot in Q2. Sergio García, Barry Baltus, and Darryn Binder also made it to Q2 by finishing in the remaining positions among the top four.
The first leader was García (Pons Wegow Los40/Kalex), ahead of Binder (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP/Kalex). Van den Goorbergh (Fieten Olie Racing GP/Kalex) and Taiga Hada (Pertamina Mandalika SAG Team/Kalex) were also in the qualification positions.
García remained at the top with his second lap, while Hada moved up to second. Van den Goorbergh stayed in third and Rory Skinner (OnlyFans American Racing/Kalex) became fourth.
Improvements in lap times were constant, as were changes in the timesheets. Van den Goorbergh took the lead with six minutes to go, displacing García. Baltus (Fieten Olie Racing GP/Kalex) climbed to third, and Hada dropped to fourth. Binder later returned to the qualification zone, pushing Baltus out.
Van den Goorbergh had a crash but was not beaten and finished in first place. García was second. Baltus made a late recovery to third on his final lap, leaving Binder in fourth. Hada missed out on Q2, finishing fifth just 0.016s behind the top four. Among those eliminated, the biggest surprise is Izan Guevara (Inde GasGas Aspar/Kalex), who will start from 26th place.
