Collin Veijer led the third and final practice session for the Catalunya Moto3 Grand Prix, held this morning in Barcelona. His time is the best of the weekend so far.
It was in the dying moments of the session that the Dutch rider from Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP secured the top spot with a lap completed in 1m48.003s. He overtook Stefano Nepa (Angeluss MTA Team/KTM), who was also later beaten by Jaume Masiá (Leopard Racing/Honda). The Spaniard finished 0.298s behind Veijer and briefly held the top position during the session as well.
Ayumu Sasaki (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) was the rider who spent most time at the front, holding the first position for nearly half of the P3. However, he ended up in fifth place, also trailing rookie José Antonio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo).
In the combined timesheets of the three practices, it’s worth noting that Daniel Holgado (Red Bull KTM Tech3), the championship leader, was relegated to Q1 with the 15th fastest time. He missed out on advancement by only 0.005s and didn’t improve from the P2 session.
