Jaume Masiá continues to be in good form and started the Moto3 San Marino Grand Prix at the front of the first practice session. The Spaniard was one of the four riders to break the 1m42s barrier in the opening session at Misano.
Consistently at the top of the timesheets, Masiá (Leopard Racing/Honda) only briefly lost the lead for about five minutes after taking it for the first time. At that point, the first five minutes of the session had not yet elapsed.
Ayumu Sasaki (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) was Masiá’s main competitor, briefly holding the top spot, but ultimately finishing second, 0.296s behind. Tatsuki Suzuki (Leopard Racing/Honda) took third place, followed by David Alonso (Gaviota GasGas Aspar) and David Muñoz (BOE Motorsports/KTM) in the top five. Daniel Holgado (Red Bull KTM Tech3) had a more discreet performance, finishing 13th, 1.058s behind Masiá.
