After a lengthy interruption due to heavy rain, there was an attempt to restart the MotoGP Japanese GP race at Motegi. However, it only took the warm-up lap to realize that the track was still impossible to ride. Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati), who eventually won the race, was surprised by this almost-restart.
The Spanish rider stated in a press conference that just before heading out onto the track to resume the race, he had told Carlos Ezpeleta, Dorna’s managing director, that the conditions were very challenging:
– I was really surprised, because two minutes before I spoke with Carlos and I said: «Now it’s super difficult». And as soon as I spoke with him, then we went out. The conditions were the same and with less light, so it was difficult. I was surprised.
