Starting from sixth, Jorge Martín managed to win the sprint race at the MotoGP Indonesian GP. He had a battle with Luca Marini (Mooney VR46 Racing Team/Ducati), securing a result that allowed him to take the lead in the championship.
The Prima Pramac rider told the official broadcast that it was a result he fought for despite the starting position, which he admits could be problematic for the main race:
– I feel super. Starting from sixth maybe wasn’t the best – for sure it’s not the best for tomorrow. But at least I was able to overtake on a track in which normally is really difficult. I was able to fight back with all the guys in front. Winning was tough because Luca was coming really fast in the end.
At this moment, Martín is at the top of the championship, but he prefers to focus on keeping the mindset he has: ‘Leading the championship at this point feels great. It’s a dream, still the same mentality. But for sure I’m so, so happy for being in the front at this point. Hopefully we can finish the weekend in the same way tomorrow’.
