Maverick Viñales returned to the podiums with the second place at the MotoGP Indonesian GP, in which he was only beaten by Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati). It was the ideal reaction after a less good period in the two previous rounds.
The Spaniard from Aprilia said in a press conference that he was pleased with the performance at Mandalika, but he stressed that there is still a gap to recover against Ducati: ‘We must be happy. We made a really good come back after two races in which we were unable to put a good performance. So basically all the weekend I felt fantastic with the bike. There are a few things to improve to try to get closer to Ducati guys, because Saturday I had a tyre drop, but also on Sunday I saw they had a little bit more at the end’.
Determined to do better, Viñales also said: ‘I’m just trying to understand it, to work it. Because of course you want to do better, better and better. And the way to do that is trying to leading races, trying to push the bike at the maximum and like this you can understand a little bit better where you are. Howevewr, this weekend I felt the bike on a really good level and it’s something I really like because we can get a lot of information and that’s fantastic’.
