Involved in several motorsport championships and categories, both in cars and bikes, Red Bull has many promotional initiatives. One of the most recent ones brought together different racing vehicles in a drag race.
The KTM RC16 from MotoGP, rode by Dani Pedrosa, participated… and emerged as the winner. It faced the 2012 Red Bull RB8 Formula 1 car (driven by Liam Lawson), a Ford Puma Rally1 WRC car (Adrien Fourmaux), a Peugeot from the World Rallycross Championship (Timmy Hansen), and the supervan Ford E-Transit (Romain Dumas).
The result is somewhat natural in a way. Although less powerful, the MotoGP bike has a set of characteristics that give it an advantage in straight-line performance. For reference, in the F1 race in Barcelona this year, the top speed was 346.4 km/h, whereas in MotoGP, only three riders did not exceed that mark in top speed during last Sunday’s race. The fastest MotoGP riders exceeded 355 km/h.
