The SYM brand is one of the world’s most established in the scooter segment, both low and medium/high displacement. The Taiwanese company’s products have been featured in many of our tests, and now the first patents have been leaked onto the Internet, in which we see the acclaimed brand starting down the path of sustainability with all-electric designs.
The SYM patent images show a new electric scooter for 2024, also designed in collaboration with the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC). This union would cover the design and development of the battery (although this seems contradictory given the name of the Chinese company), while it is CNPC that will provide the design and technology for the electric motorization of this future SYM scooter. The features that will distinguish this scooter will be fast charging, long battery life and a proven battery cooling system.
As far as the design of SYM’s future electric scooter is concerned, the radiator dedicated to cooling the batteries, one of the main problems with electric scooters, especially during the charging phase, immediately stands out. This radiator would be placed exactly behind the battery, before the two shock absorbers. The new SYM would be equipped with a double oil and air shock absorber, a belt drive, a steel frame and 12-inch wheels.
SYM is expected to surprise us with futuristic lines but, as always, we’ll have to wait until at least the end of the year. Only then will we know if what has been rumored will come true.
